The Department of General & Minimally Invasive Surgery strives to provide highest quality patient care for all types of surgical issues. We provide comprehensive care right from consultation to operative, perioperative and postoperative management. We are one of the earliest to start laparoscopic surgeries in the city.

With state-of- the art equipment, we specialize in all types of basic and advanced laparoscopic surgeries including obesity surgery. The surgeons are available for consultation with prior appointment from Monday to Saturday between 6pm and 8pm.

Our surgeons in the department have published many research articles in both national & International indexed Journals. They have also presented many papers in various national and international conferences. The best video award for the paper on Vaginal reconstruction using sigmoid colon in vaginal agenesis was conferred to Dr R Vijayaraghavan at AMASICON held at Mumbai in May 2009.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is lead by Dr Y Sujatha who is one of the medical directors.

Obstetric Services include pre-pregnancy counseling, antenatal care for both low risk and high risk group of mothers. The Radiologists supports obstetricians in carrying out Ultrasound scan along with Doppler studies to monitor fetal wellbeing at the hospital itself. Continuous electronic fetal heart rate monitoring is available to watch the baby’s condition during delivery. Emergencyand elective caesareans are performed as and when indicated and babies are seen by Pediatrician at birth.

Our consultant gynecologists provide medical as well as surgical management of all types of gynecological problems viz menstrual abnormalities, prolapsed uterus, fibroids, tumors of ovaries etc. Minimal access surgeries, i.e vaginal surgeries, gynecological laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeries including that for gynec-oncological cases are regularly performed with the help of laparoscopic surgical team.

Oncology

The Hospital manages good percentage of Surgical Oncology patients. Dr. Rudresh who is a medical oncologist helps with department in taking care of cancer patients.

The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at RMV Hospital offers diagnostic and therapeutic services for the management of disorders of bones and joints, that is musculo-skeletal system. A team of qualified and experienced surgeons are known for providing services round the clock and for their skills in providing practical and affordable solutions.

Services offered include medical and surgical care for bone and joint illness resulting from injuries, infections, nutritional or metabolic disorders and aging. Services are provided for all age groups – neonates to elderly persons. Care of the injured, Hip and knee replacement surgeries, treatment of deformities and instability of spine including degenerative disc disease, slipped disc are some of the services provided with successful outcomes. Orthopedic surgeons are part of the trauma team that is available round the clock to monitor and treat poly-trauma patients.

Dr Upendra is our visiting consultant and spine surgeon who helps the orthopedic team and takes care of spine related pathologies in our hospital.

The department is supported by a radiological suite with Digital X-ray, US Scan and imaging by CT Scan. Physiotherapy and rehabilitation services are available to restore the movements and functional abilities after injuries, and surgeries.

2 well-equipped operation theaters, post-surgery recovery – monitoring units with a team of experienced and caring anesthetists, technicians and nurses are available round the clock for providing the necessary services.

RMV Hospital has a team of experts to care for even the littlest of patients in time of need. Aim of pathology department is to provide accurate test results in time for diagnosis and management of patients.

The department is managed efficiently by the full time pathologist with 43 yrs of experience in all subspecialties of pathology.

He has worked in various capacity in medical colleges, central laboratory and medical university. He has many publications in national and international indexed journals. He is well assisted by 12 qualified technicians and the Laboratory is well equipped.

Department of laboratory medicine works round the clock catering emergerncy tests as well as routine tests in hematology, clinical biochemistry, microbiology, clinical pathology, histopathology, cytopathology etc. We have MOU for special tests with NABL & cap accreditated laboratories. Almost all tests are taken care of by us.
